Here at Cornerstone, the Bible is preached and taught so that everyone hears the unadulterated Word of God. It is our desire that every individual be given the opportunity to make life decisions based on the Truth.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith,as it is written, "The righteous shall live by faith." Romans 1:16-17
Our Sunday services are dedicated to the reading and studying of God’s Word. At 9:45 am (Cross Training), we are walking through the Old Testament – chapter by chapter, verse by verse. We are now in the book of Genesis. Our 10:45 am service is given over to New Testament Bible study as we are currently studying Paul’s letter to the Romans. In our 6:00 pm meetings we are exploring various aspects of the Gospel as we use John MacArthur’s book, “The Gospel According to Jesus,” as a guide.

As a NC Baptist Church Plant in August 2008, Cornerstone Baptist Church of Madison called Mark Talbert as its first pastor. Mark has served as Pastor and Associate Pastor of several NC Baptist churches. He was saved in 1991 at the age of 31 and was called by God to fulltime Christian ministry in 1993.
He began his education in the summer of 1993 at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC where he has graduated with the Associate of Divinity (1996), Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies (2000), Master of Divinity (May 2004), and most recently, Doctor of Philosophy in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Old Testament (2015).
Mark’s passion of teaching and preaching God’s Word is based upon a couple of truths found in the New Testament: 1) to equip the saints for the work of the ministry and to build up the body of Christ (Eph 4:12) and 2) to give everyone the chance to be exposed to the clear teaching of the Bible in order that they may have the opportunity to make their own personal decision regarding Christ (Rom 10:17).
Mark has been married to his wife and best friend, Kristi, since 1978. Mark and Kristi have two sons, Mark and Matthew. Mark and his wife, Mandy, live in Reidsville, NC and have four children: Abby, Noah, Hannah, and Sarah. Matthew and his wife, Jaclyn, live in Athens, OH and have two children: Davis and Gracie.
After the Lord and his family, Mark also loves grilling. His specialty - baby back ribs with Grendeddy Dave’s BBQ sauce.
No Turning Back Ministries, Inc. is Mark's personal ministry. "I chose that title as a reference to Luke 9:23. The follower of Christ must take up his cross. The condemned criminal in Jesus’ day would be forced to carry his cross (crossbeam) to the place of execution. There would be 'no turning back.' Therefore, for the true follower of Christ, there would be no turning back." ~ Mark Talbert
